Welcome Parents!

In today’s competitive arena of sport it is very easy to become swept up in the emotion and events of your child’s athletic experience. At the Mental Edge we have always strived to make athletics an enjoyable experience for the athlete, as well as acknowledging the important role parents can play in this experience.

In an effort to continue our passion for developing an overall positive experience we are proud to launch this new page devoted just for Parents! You can expect updates through out the year, and as always we are available to answer any questions you may have.

Below is our first installment taken form a recent workshop directed at parents of very skilled and driven athletes.

Myths of helping my child

1 My job is to motivate my child
2 Working hard is most important to accomplishing goals
3 Not experiencing success is a problem
4 Talking to your kids about their goals is important
5 Rewarding my child on their accomplishments will teach them good work ethic

Helpful ways to champion your child’s goals

EXPERTS AGREE one’s mental approach can separate the ordinary achiever from the exceptional one. A positive mental approach
is also strongly correlated with those individuals who derive a positive experience from their participation in athletic competition.
However, the skills required to achieve individual goals are often overlooked because the primary focus for development is
concentrated more on physical attributes than mental approach. At Mental Edge, our mission is to increase personal achievement
and elevate the experience of individuals through mentoring and the teaching of competencies necessary to achieve a positive experience, on and off the field of play. We believe personal satisfaction is fundamental to participation in sports ... and in life.
